Skill Nominated Visa

Skill Nominated Visa (190)

This 190 visa provides an opportunity for skilled workers to come to Australia, live, and work as a permanent resident. However, an Australian state or territory government must nominate the person beforehand.

The 190 visa is a points-tested visa and requires the applicant to be invited to apply through the Skill Select programme. The applicant may be in Australia or Outside Australia at the time of visa lodgement.

Visa Process

First, you need to contact the state or territory government agency, from which you are seeking the nomination. Then, review their nomination process and requirements. Afterwards, you have to submit an expression of interest (EOI) via SkillSelect. The EOI will contain the details of your nominated profession, skills and qualifications. SkillSelect will estimate a points score; if you score high, the Australian government or territory agency will decide whether they want to choose you or not.

If you are nominated by a state or territory agency, you will be invited to apply for the visa. If you are invited, you will have 60 days to apply for the visa.
